Top-Up funds available to sponsorship groups needing to raise money DEADLINE APRIL 1ST

2016-03-24
Nico Koenig

Have you had difficulties raising money to meet the financial requirement to sponsor your loved ones through Canada’s private sponsorship program?

The United Way, through its United for Refugees campaign, is making funds available to sponsorship groups to help meet the financial requirements to sponsor.

How much funding can I get? This is a top-up fund. The United Way may provide up to 50% of the financial requirement for sponsorship to top up existing fundraising efforts.

Am I eligible for this funding?

In order to access these funds, you must show in your proposal that:

  • You have a fully formed sponsorship group (Group of Five, Community Sponsor, Constituent Group/SAH);
  • You have completed a Settlement Plan, which must be submitted with the proposal; and
  • You have raised, or can demonstrate at least 50% of the required amount of financial commitment:

Deadlines

Notifying the United Way of the flow-through partner: March 30th, 1:00pm

However, to access the funds, sponsorship groups will need to enter into a flow-through agreement with a registered charity. You mustnotify the United Way of your flow-through partner at least 48 hours in advance of the deadline – by 1:00pm on March 30th.

The SSP can help – our local partners have agreed to enter into flow-through agreements with sponsorship groups who submit proposals through the SSP.

Please contact us at refugeessp@uottawa.ca as soon as possible if you plan to submit a proposal and need a flow-through agreement.
